When a brief names a specific Thor story

Named tales arrive with pictures already in the sender’s head, often a cover they loved at fourteen. We ask them to put the cover away for the sitting. If the job is “that cover, but moving,” we refuse. If the job is “the theft of the hammer, from the doorway, helmet wrong,” we can work.

Originality here is an angle and a weather system, not a new god. The saga is old; the panel still has to be ours. We change the height of the camera, the amount of hall around Thor, the moment the motion is allowed to start. That is enough to keep us off someone else’s published line.

If the named story is Ragnarok, we slow people down. A last-spark panel can hold; a last-battle page cannot, not at our scale. Better one hand and a failing light than a crowd we cannot ink honestly before winter.
